(성명)홍콩 시민의 민주화 투쟁을 지지한다!

지난 9월 “캐리 람” 행정장관은 민주화 시위의 직접적인 원인이 되었던, “송환법”을 철회한다고 밝혔다. 그러나 홍콩 시민은 이에 만족하지 않고, “송환법” 너머 새로운 사회를 만들기 위한 투쟁에 나서고 있다. <약탈경제반대행동>은 이러한 홍콩 시민의 목표와 의지, 노력에 존경과 연대의 마음을 전한다.

현재 홍콩은 민주주의 위기와 경제적 불평등에 기인한 위기를 겪고 있다. 중국 정부는 중국 권력의 비민주성을 비판하는 출판인과 출판물 탄압, 민주적인 집회에 대한 무자비한 공권력 투입, 시위대 구금 등으로 시민이라면 누구나 보장받아야 하는 언론의 자유, 집회 결사의 자유 등을 아무렇지 않게 무시하고 있다.

또한 홍콩의 불평등 수준은 다른 나라와 비교해 악명이 높다. 홍콩은 세계 최고 수준의 부유한 도시임에도 불구하고, 시민의 경제적 삶은 매우 심각한 위기에 직면해 있다. 홍콩 시민은 살인적인 물가상승과 부동산 가격 등으로 “행복 추구”에 관한 시민의 기본적인 권리를 보장받을 수 없는 상황이다.

반면 홍콩의 부자들은 홍콩에서 생산하는 부의 대부분을 독점하고 있으며, 나아가 자본의 힘과 관료의 힘을 결합시켜 시민의 삶을 외면한 채 자신들만을 위한 사회를 건설하고 있다.

이에 <약탈경제반대행동>은 자신들을 둘러싸고 있는 비민주적 억압과 경제적 불평등을 개선하기 투쟁하고 있는 홍콩 시민들에게 다시 한번 존경과 연대의 마음을 전한다. 또한 <약탈경제반대행동>은 정의로운 국제 연대 정신에 입각하여, 중국과 홍콩 정부에게 다음과 같은 요구를 전한다.

1.출판과 언론의 자유 보장, 행정장관 직선제 등 홍콩의 민주화를 위한 제반 제도를 실행하라.

2.공권력의 탄압을 중지하고, 홍콩 시민의 자유로운 집회, 결사의 자유를 보장하라.

3.소수 자본가의 이익을 보장하는 사회, 경제 정책을 철폐하고, 모든 시민의 평등이 보장되는 경제정책을 실시하라.

(Statement) We support Hong Kong"s fight for freedom!

In September, Hong Kong"s chief executive Carrie Ram claimed to withdraw the "extradition bil"l which was a direct cause of protests. Hong Kong citizens, however, were not content with this and are still struggling to achieve a better society. We "Vampire Capital Hunter" express our solidarity towards Hong Kong citizen"s will and effort.

Hong Kong is now facing a crisis caused by undemocratic administration and economic inequality. The Chinese government ignores the freedom of the press and the freedom of association which must be guaranteed to all citizens. They are relentlessly suppressing the publishers and publications, as well as the democratic assembly along with their innocent protesters.

Hong Kong"s economic inequality is also notorious. Despite being one of the world"s richest cities, the economic life of Hong Kong citizens is in grave danger. Their basic right to pursue happiness is in threat due to murderous inflation and real estate prices. On the other hand, only a few rich people monopolise most of Hong Kong"s wealth. Moreover, the society they construct is exclusively for their own good based on their capitalistic and bureaucratic authority.

We again express our hearts of respect and solidarity to Hong Kong citizens who fight against the undemocratic oppression and economic inequality. Furthermore, in the spirit of international solidarity, the Vampire Capital Hunter sends the following requests to the Chinese and Hong Kong governments.

1. Implement various systems for democracy of Hong Kong, such as securing the freedom of speech and the press, and direct elections for Hong Kong"s chief executive.

2. Stop abusing administrative power and ensure the freedom of assembly and association of Hong Kong citizens.

3. Abolish social and economic policies that endorse the interests of a handful of capitalists and execute economic policies that guarantee equality for all citizens.
